Research | Leadership | Community Impact

I work across education, leadership, policy, and community engagement, helping organisations and communities navigate change, build capability, and create meaningful opportunities for success.

Drawing on experience in academia, government, schools, and community leadership, my work focuses on connecting research, strategy, and practice to address complex challenges and improve outcomes for people and organisations.

A tidy home office desk in photographic realism, featuring a large, slim computer monitor displaying blurred research data visualizations and a digital map of Aotearoa New Zealand. Beside it lies a notebook open to neatly written planning notes, a pair of reading glasses, and a ceramic mug on a cork coaster. In the background, a bookshelf holds color-coded academic texts, woven Pasifika-inspired patterns on bookends, and a small carved wooden waka as a cultural reference. Soft, diffused morning light filters through a sheer curtain, creating a calm, focused atmosphere. Shot from a slightly elevated angle with balanced composition, the scene conveys thoughtful strategy work and long-term educational planning.

Connecting research, strategy, community

I am a Senior Lecturer Above the Bar at the University of Canterbury, where I teach, research, and work with postgraduate students. Alongside my academic work, I have extensive experience in educational leadership, public service, strategic advice, community engagement, and organisational improvement.

Over the course of my career, I have worked across schools, tertiary education, government agencies, community organisations, iwi, local government, industry groups, and diverse ethnic and refugee communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. My work is grounded in collaboration, evidence-informed decision making, and a commitment to leading positive and sustainable change.
